ACLU: Center for Democracy - Undergraduate Internships - New York, NY

 The American Civil Liberties Union Center for Democracy Undergraduate Internship Program is designed to provide interns with the opportunity to learn about the legal aspects of public interest work. Interns will work with the Staff Attorneys, Paralegals, and Legal Administrative Assistants of the ACLU’s First Amendment Working Group (FAWG), Human Rights Program (HRP), and National Security Project (NSP) on a range of issues and projects. Our Summer Term Internship requires an 8-12 week commitment. This position is unpaid. But arrangements can be made for work/study or course credit.

ACLU: Women’s Rights Summer Legal Internship- New York, NY

 The American Civil Liberteries Union’s Women’s Rights Project  is accepting applicants for a 2010 Summer Legal Internship open to all students who have completed their second year of law school.

The Womens Rights Project has overall responsibility for implementing ACLU policy in the area of gender discrimination. WRP conducts direct litigation, files amicus curiae briefs, provides support for ACLU affiliate litigation, serves as a resource for ACLU legislative work on women’s rights and seeks to advance ACLU policy goals through public education, organizing and coalition advocacy.

Harvard University offers NO TUITION SCHOLARSHIPS

Harvard University announced that from now on undergraduate students from low-income families will pay no tuition. In making the announcement, Harvard’s President Lawrence H. Summers said, “When only ten percent of the students in elite higher education come from families in the lower half of the income distribution, we are not doing enough. We are not doing enough in bringing elite higher education to the lower half of the income distribution.”

If you know of a family earning les than $60,000 a year with an honor student graduating from high school soon, Harvard University wants to pay the tuition. The prestigious university recently announced that from now on undergraduate students from lon-income families can go to Harvard for free…no tuition and no student loand!
