FELLOWSHIP FOR RECENT LAW SCHOOL GRADUATES OF JUNE 2011 GRADUATES:2011-2013 ARYEH NEIER FELLOWHIP  The American Civil Liberties Union Foundation (ACLU) is a nationwide, nonprofit, nonpartisan organization, founded in 1920 and dedicated to the principles of liberty and equality embodied in the U.S. Constitution. The ACLU and Human Rights Watch invite applications for the Aryeh Neier Fellowship. Human Rights Watch and the ACLU created the fellowship to honor the legacy of Aryeh Neier. As Executive Director of the ACLU and then of Human Rights Watch, Aryeh Neier helped both organizations develop into powerful forces for justice and human rights.  The fellow is most likely to be placed in the New York offices of both Human Rights Watch and the ACLU, although he or she should be open to placement in the organizations’ offices in other locations within the United States. A special committee from both organizations will select the fellow who will begin the two-year fellowship in the fall of 2011.

ACLU Foundation: Immigrant Rights Project - New York, NY and San Francisco, CA

ACLU Foundation: LGBT & AIDS Project – New York, NY

  The LGBT & AIDS Project brings impact lawsuits in state and federal courts throughout the country—cases designed to have a significant effect on the lives of LGBT people and those with HIV/AIDS. In coalition with other civil rights groups, we also lobby in Congress and support grassroots advocacy, from local school boards to state legislatures.

Internships are unpaid positions with flexible schedules designed to accommodate the coursework/employment of the interns. In addition to providing general support to Project staff and attorneys, interns will assist in the design and implementation of public education strategies and outreach campaigns on issues surrounding HIV/AIDS and/or LGBT rights.

The American Civil Liberties Union Summer Undergraduate Internship Program is designed to provide interns with the opportunity to learn about the legal aspects of public interest work. Interns will work with the Staff Attorneys, Paralegals, and Legal Administrative Assistants of the ACLU’s First Amendment Working Group (FAWG), Human Rights Program (HRP), and National Security Project (NSP) on a range of issues and projects. Harvard University offers NO TUITION SCHOLARSHIPS

Harvard University announced that from now on undergraduate students from low-income families will pay no tuition. In making the announcement, Harvard’s President Lawrence H. Summers said, “When only ten percent of the students in elite higher education come from families in the lower half of the income distribution, we are not doing enough. We are not doing enough in bringing elite higher education to the lower half of the income distribution.”

If you know of a family earning les than $60,000 a year with an honor student graduating from high school soon, Harvard University wants to pay the tuition. The prestigious university recently announced that from now on undergraduate students from lon-income families can go to Harvard for free…no tuition and no student loand!
