Kyra Climbingbear
Eastern Band Cherokee- Lumbee
Kyra was born to a "Black" mother and a "Native American" father. At an early age Kyra embraced her recently mixed heritage and decided through music she would educate ignorant minds. She spent many years between New Jersey and Cherokee, North Carolina (Qualla Boundary, Cherokee reservation) where her father later resided with her two brothers and step-mother. During her visits she was introduced to Cherokee traditional dancing as well as traditional Cherokee songs; which naturally she took to. Nowadays, her goal is to address worldly issues and become what Marvin Gaye was in his era: a motivator. Her musical influences can be attributed to her mother's vast collection of music. Her mother hummed “Easy on down the road” (The Wiz soundtrack) from the day she was born and the lyrics have remained with Kyra as a constant reminder to never carry anything that might be a load. K. Climbingbear's voice has often been described as a blend between Lauryn Hill and Kelis. However, she has yet to define her genre and is against the idea of "MUSICAL LIMITATION". She will continue to follow wherever the music leads. With the constant love and support of her family/friends, and of course GOD, there is NO DOUBT that Kyra Climbingbear will succeed!

2006 Lead Singer in the band L.N.T.G., Village Underground, CBGB (main), CBGB (Gallery), 8 Bar, “LadiesnGents Ent”. 1st runner up Karaoke contest
2007 Currently singing at many open mics around the Tri-State area, Diva Lounge, Guerilla Words, Fusion Ti, Champps, Village Underground, The Waterbug Hotel, and is in the process of completing her first demo.
