Candece Tarpley

Candece is an actress, poet-writer, artist, dancer, singer, craftsperson and educator. She is a World Champion Eastern Blanket Dancer and she has traveled to Japan to perform for the Kobe earthquake victims. Her dance group Sparrow’s Wing Dance Theatre has performed at several events in the New York area. Candece has taught acting, poetry, and Native crafts to children in the New York City, New Jersey and Southampton school systems. The School of Visual Arts sought her teaching skills and her beadwork appeared in the film “Beat Street” and at The Museum of Natural History. She has performed her poetry at The Public Library in Boulder, CO; the Mashantucket Pequot Museum; and The Cornelia Street Café. Candece has appeared in many TV shows and films. Her favorites include Max Bickford, working with Eli Wallach; Wayne Wang’s Smoke, working with Harvey Keitel; rehearsing at The Essence, MTV and VH1 Award Shows and working with Sidney Lumet on One Hundred Centre Street and the film Gloria. She has two sons and lives in New York City.
